Keane’s finish wins broad approval, but charging and workmanship temper the appeal

The evidence covers 1,523 distinct written reviews dated from August 2016 through August 2026 in Crate & Barrel's shared Keane owner-review family. The comments span charging and narrow nightstands, dressers, beds, desks, bookcases, consoles and other Keane furniture in multiple sizes and finishes. Findings therefore describe the broader Keane series.

Room×Lab rating: 7.3 out of 10 (medium confidence). Strong owner satisfaction, useful storage and an appealing finish lift the Keane, but recurring workmanship concerns and a divisive moving-drawer charging layout cap the score. This assessment covers the wider Keane series, with charging-layout findings specific to the relevant nightstands.

  • Finish usually impresses, but appearance can shift at home: 454 favorable mentions; 54 lower-rating concerns — Finish is the series’ most discussed attribute. Praise dominates, while concerns include color differences, roughness, shine and artificial-looking surfaces across several finishes.
  • Workmanship is the main material caveat: 73 favorable mentions; 38 lower-rating concerns — Owners often report sturdy construction and good wear, but peeling edge material, damaged joints, supports and hardware recur across different Keane pieces. The evidence does not establish a universal defect.
  • Concealed charging is useful, but the layout divides owners: 5 favorable mentions; 6 lower-rating concerns in the balanced 64-comment set — Some owners appreciate hidden power and cleaner cable management; others report cable drag, awkward cord routing, limited convenience or a failed module. The counts illustrate the split rather than full-pool prevalence.

Before buying

Buy it for roomy storage and concealed power only if you can inspect the black finish, accept in-drawer cord movement and confirm warranty coverage for the charging module.
