Mason dressers

Room×Lab Review · Review updated September 27, 2026 · Evidence rechecked September 30, 2026

Mason dresser owners like the look and storage, but odor and drawer complaints keep coming up

The retailer aggregate covers 369 unfiltered ratings and can include records excluded from product-specific claims; it is not a qualified-owner count. 313 distinct retailer comments were studied. The owner evidence positively covers the Mason dresser family comprising the 64-inch white seven-drawer dresser and 37-inch white five-drawer tall dresser. Configuration-specific findings are identified. The retailer’s pooled rating and review count also include Shadow Grey dressers and chests, nightstands and beds; those other products are not treated as evidence for these white dressers because shared feed membership does not establish equivalent construction or performance. The pooled aggregate therefore is not a rating or owner count for the shown dresser or two-member dresser family alone.

Room×Lab rating: 5.7 out of 10 (limited confidence). Owners of both white Mason dresser sizes often praise the looks, solid feel and storage. Repeated odor reports and drawer-hardware complaints, including the few accounts covering a year or more, hold the score down. The retailer's 4.4-star average is pooled with other Mason products.

• Odor is the most repeated concern: Linked records: 18 critical odor mentions and no favorable ones, across both dresser sizes. — Reports range from a slight smell that one owner expected airing to fix, to odor lasting months or nearly three years that reached rooms, clothing or planned nursery use. Owners supplied no testing, so the odor's source, chemistry and any health effect are unknown.
• Drawer movement and hardware draw split reports: Linked records: 7 favorable and 13 critical mentions about drawer movement and hardware. — Some owners of both sizes describe smooth, easy drawers. Others report misalignment, drawers that reopen or won't close, and loosened or detached tracks and glides. The longest accounts include loosened tall-dresser tracks after about three years and a detached glide after more than a year. They don't show one common cause or a failure rate.
• Looks and build impress, but some finishes arrive or end up damaged: Linked records: 8 favorable and 5 critical mentions about appearance, build and finish condition. — Owners of both sizes often call the dressers attractive, solid or well made. Critical records describe chips, cracks, residue or easily damaged surfaces, including a unit whose veneer was cracked when first received and an outlet purchase with small dings.

Before buying

Choose a Mason dresser for its classic white look and storage only if you can live with a possible lasting odor (airing failed for some owners), check every drawer and the finish at delivery, and accept that the few year-plus reports are unfavorable.
