Room×Lab Review · Review updated September 29, 2026
Owners love the Girard Throw's color and warmth; the only complaint, from two reviewers, is that it could be longer
The DWR product page shows a 3.6 out of 5 rating label, yet the 45 retailer review entries we read (45 distinct records, not 45 separate people) are all 3 to 5 stars and average 4.84 unfiltered; we couldn't explain the gap, and 45 isn't a count of qualified owners. Several texts repeat two to four times under the same or different names, so fewer separate people are speaking. They cover the Girard Throw as one family: a single 64 x 54 in wool-and-cotton throw in several colorways. Reviews run from 2014 to September 2026; about half were first posted on Herman Miller's store. Owners name Teal/Aqua, Orange/Fuchsia, Black/White, taupe, a "Braniff blue" and neutral patterns; no review clearly names the newer stripe or checker patterns. Most reviews are one or two sentences, few say how long they've owned it, and several describe gifts. One reviewer is flagged as staff, one is a former Herman Miller executive's recollection, and one only states a plan to give it as a gift. Five 5-star hive reviews (2017–2022) of the same throw all praise its color or pattern; individual reviewers also mention warmth, softness, build or size. No independent testing was found.
Room×Lab rating: 7.3 out of 10 (medium confidence). Owners consistently praise the Girard Throw's vivid colors, warmth and soft feel, and the retailer reviews averages 4.84 stars. The biggest caveat is durability: no owner reports how it holds up over years or through dry cleaning, and a few taller users find it short.
- Colors and pattern are the main draw: Linked records: 24 favorable and 0 critical mentions of the colors, pattern and overall look. — Owners mention teal/aqua, orange/fuchsia, Braniff blue, black/white, taupe and neutral-pattern versions, and say it suits their sofas, decor and mid-century pieces. Several texts repeat under the same or different names, so fewer separate people said this. No review clearly covers the newer stripe or checker patterns.
- Warm for chilly rooms without feeling heavy: Linked records: 13 favorable and 0 critical mentions of warmth for chilly rooms, nights and naps. — Owners use it in a cold basement room, on chilly nights and for couch naps. Two call the weight moderate or just right, while one calls it extra thick. One says it is warm without the smothering feel of many synthetic throws. These are impressions, not measurements.
- Two reviewers wish it were a bit longer: Linked records: 1 favorable and 3 critical mentions of length; two of the critical texts are near-identical. — A 4-star verified buyer's only complaint is that it could be a bit longer. Another reviewer, probably posting twice, uses it for their Yorkie and says it would need to be about 10% larger if they, at over 6 ft, used it themselves. A gift buyer finds it just the right size for couch naps. These are individual preferences, not a measured problem.
Before buying
Buy it if you want a warm, soft wool-blend throw in Girard's colors at $325. Plan on dry cleaning, and if you're over 6 ft, it may feel short for lounging. No owner reports how it wears over years.
