Room×Lab Review · Review updated September 28, 2026

Owners like the shade and look, but slipping corner pockets and uneven seam life temper the praise

The retailer aggregate covers 61 unfiltered ratings and can include records excluded from product-specific claims; it is not a qualified-owner count. 56 distinct retailer comments were studied. These owner accounts come from Crate & Barrel's shared review pool for its 10' rectangular replacement canopies. The pool covers six listings: White Sand (the shown canopy), Charcoal, Sapphire, Stone, Black Cabana Stripe, and a Tan and Ivory Squiggle canopy whose name leaves out Sunbrella. About a quarter of the written reviews carry the White Sand label. Findings on shade, fit, seams and pockets are pooled family evidence. Remarks on colour and how much light gets through stay with their own colourway. Nobody has confirmed that the colourways share the same construction, and the Squiggle fabric is unconfirmed. The reviews date from 2015 to 2025. Many come from buyers replacing a canopy on an older C&B frame, and some discuss frames, bases or stands, which are sold separately. The pool's rating reflects all six listings, not White Sand owners alone.

Room×Lab rating: 6.2 out of 10 (limited confidence). Owners across the canopy family praise its shade, looks and easy fit on existing Crate & Barrel frames. The main caveats are mixed seam durability and a recurring sibling-colourway complaint that rib ends slip from the corner pockets; the 4.1-star average pools six colourways.

  • Shade over dining tables and seating: Linked records: about 10 favorable shade or coverage mentions; 2 caveats, one from a review also counted as favorable. — Owners across colourways say the 10' rectangle shades dining tables and patios well. One White Sand owner notes the light colour lets more light through than darker colours would, and a Squiggle owner found it small for a large table and chairs. These are in-use impressions, not measured UV or heat results.
  • Rib ends slipping from the corner pockets: 7 critical mentions of ribs slipping from pockets; 3 favorable ones praise the crank or frame, not pocket fit. — Complaints come from Squiggle, Stone, Sapphire and Charcoal listings; none carries a White Sand label. Severity ranges from reattaching every corner each time to occasional repositioning the owner shrugged off. Two reports share an author name and may be one person. Whether frame version matters is unknown.
  • How seams and corners hold up: Linked records: 4 favorable and 4 critical mentions about seam and corner durability. — The one long-term account on the White Sand listing reports 3+ years like new with lowering and indoor winter storage, but does not confirm its colour. Favorable accounts cover general condition, not seams. Other colourways report seams failing after a season, arm-pocket seams opening in two years beside a cracking wood frame, and a ratty cover in 2–3 years.

Before buying

Canopy only: needs a Crate & Barrel rectangular frame and stand (sold separately), and the November 2025 product page says it is no longer available. Other-colourway owners report ribs slipping from corner pockets, some every use; seam reports vary.
