Room×Lab Review · Review updated September 28, 2026

Owners love the Sphere's sculptural shape, but the 26-in's size and some flawed deliveries catch buyers off guard

The retailer aggregate covers 645 unfiltered ratings and can include records excluded from product-specific claims; it is not a qualified-owner count. 520 distinct retailer comments were studied. This review covers the Sphere planter family because Crate & Barrel pools owner reviews across it. The pool has about 100 Large White 26-in reviews, plus Large/Small Dark Grey, Small White, Large/Small Light Grey, Large/Small Sand and a few Bronze Textured, in 20-in and 26-in sizes. The retailer's rating and count cover this whole pool, not the white 26-in alone. Reviews run April 2022 to September 2026. Most are short early impressions praising the look, scale and compliments, often with olive, fig or Christmas trees. A few describe months to years of use or winters outdoors. Minority reports cover arrival damage, finish flaws, scuffing, the narrow opening, drainage, weight, sizing surprises, price and service. Colour-, texture- and size-specific findings stay with that variant. Shared pooling does not show identical construction.

Room×Lab rating: 7.3 out of 10 (limited confidence). Owners across the Sphere family overwhelmingly praise the true-sphere look and its scale for tall trees, which drives the score. The main caveat is thin long-term evidence: winter and weathering reports are few, official copy says to protect it from freezing, and some units arrive flawed.

  • The true-sphere shape is the main draw: Linked records: 15 favorable and 2 critical mentions about the Sphere's look. — Owners across sizes and colours call it a modern statement piece, and several say cheaper lookalikes they tried fell short, one noting they were less spherical. A Small White owner said it does not look high-end, and a Large Light Grey owner reported a cheap feel and a mould seam. Many comments are first impressions with no stated length of use.
  • The 26-in can be bigger than buyers expect: Linked records: 9 favorable and 9 critical mentions about the 26-in size's scale. — Owners fit 9-ft trees, a 7.5-ft Christmas tree and even a 14-ft ficus. Others found it too big for their room, backyard or car; some returned it or exchanged it for the 20-in, one stored it after the holidays for lack of a big enough plant, and a 1-star White owner called it far too big.
  • Packaging is praised, yet some units arrived flawed: Linked records: 14 favorable and 14 critical mentions about arrival condition and packaging. — Reported arrival flaws span colours: cracks, an impact mark, finish rings, discoloured lines or spots, scuffs, and a paint chip on one of several new Large White units. Several cases involved a replacement or return. These are isolated reports; how often it happens is unknown.

Before buying

Choose the 26-in Sphere if you want a sculptural statement pot for a tall tree and your root ball fits its 13.4-in opening; plan to protect it from freezing, and inspect it closely on arrival.
